Frank Prescott was born on 19 November 1835 in New Haven, Connecticut.1 He was the son of Enos Alling Prescott and Mary Carrington.1 He was baptized on 7 September 1836 at Trinity Protestant Episcopal Church, New Haven.2 He was listed as a resident in Enos and Mary's household in the census report on 1 October 1850 in New Haven.3 He was an apothecary in 1855 at 54 Hamilton Street, New Haven.4 He married Josephine F. Smith, daughter of Joseph H. Smith and Jerusha Hotchkiss Bassett, on 31 May 1859 in New Haven.5,6,7 He was listed as a resident in his in-law's household (Joseph and Jerusha Smith) in the census report on 21 June 1860 in New Haven.8 He was drafted in 1863 in New Haven to fight for the Union in the Civil War. It seems likely that his family had the means to supply the $300 that would have been required to exempt him from service.9 According to his Civil War draft registration, Frank Prescott lived at 13 Whiting Street, New Haven, in June 1863.10 He was a solicitor of patents on 4 July 1870 in New Haven.11 He was still living with his in-laws as of the census report on 4 July 1870.11 Frank and Josephine appeared on the census of 3 June 1880 at 46 Elliot Street, New Haven.12 In 1885 Frank Prescott was convicted of theft of $11 from one of his pension clients. He was also convicted of forgery of a pension check at the request of the destitute wife of a man who was in prison. He was sentenced to the prison in Wethersfield for one year.13 Frank and Josephine appeared on the census of 6 June 1900 at 56 Perkins Street, New Haven.14 He died from a stroke on 12 December 1905 in New Haven at age 70.15 He was buried in the Grove Street Cemetery, New Haven.15
