Samuel A. Rean was born on 13 August 1844 in Radford, Nottinghamshire, England.1,2,3,4,5,6 He was the son of Harriet Rean. He was listed along with his mother Harriet Columbine as a resident in his grandfather Samuel Rean's household in the census report in 1851 in Radford. Because he carries his mother's maiden name, this suggests that he was born out of wedlock. William Page is listed as a visitor in the household.7 Before 1860 his name was changed to Samuel A. Page. Because later documents list his father as William Page, it is assumed this is the William Page listed as a visitor in his grandfather's home. Samuel A. Page appeared on the census of 1860 in Pembroke, Massachusetts. He is listed as an apprentice painter.8 He began military service on 22 September 1862 in Pembroke as a Private in Company I, 4th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. He received a gunshot wound to his left elbow on May 27, 1863 in the seige of Port Hudson, Lousiana.4,9 He ended military service on 28 August 1863 in Lakeville, Massachusetts.4,9 He married Emma Terrell on 3 July 1864 in Hanson, Massachusetts.5 Samuel A. Page re-enlisted on 3 August 1864 as a private in the 20th Massachusetts Infantry.9 He ended military service on 18 November 1864.9 He re-enlisted on 19 November 1864 as a musician in the 20th Company, Unattached Infantry (Massachusetts.)9 He ended military service on 27 June 1865 in Gallops Harbor, Boston Harbor.9 He and Emma Terrell appeared on the census of 27 June 1870 in North Bridgewater.10 He was a shoe cutter before 11 January 1874 in Brockton.11 Samuel A. Page married Irene Eunice Fleming, daughter of Franklin K. Fleming and Maranda Cordelia Burt, on 11 January 1874 in Brockton.11 He applied to become a naturalized citizen on 12 October 1878 in Boston.6 Samuel and Irene appeared on the census of 8 June 1880 at Ford Street, Brockton.12 Samuel Page enlisted in the 1st Regiment of New Hampshire Volunteers in the Spanish American War on 29 June 1898. He was at Camp Thomas, Chickamauga, Georgia, where he contracted multiple ailments including malarial posioning.9 He ended military service on 31 October 1898 in Concord, New Hampshire.9 Samuel A. Page and Sophie Green appeared on the census of 7 June 1900 in Lake Avenue, Manchester, New Hampshire.13 Samuel and Irene were divorced on 9 November 1901 in Manchester. The decree cites abandonment as the cause.14 He married Sophie Green on 24 April 1902 in Manchester.15 He died from a cerebral embolism on 9 April 1907 in Manchester at age 62.3
