     Benajah Strong was born on 17 January 1734 in Lebanon, New London County, Connecticut.2 He was the son of Lt. Jedediah Strong and Elizabeth Webster.1 He served in the militia in 1756 and 1757, during the French and Indian War.3 He married Mary Bacon, daughter of Ebenezer Bacon and Lydia Lothrop, on 13 April 1758 in Lebanon.4,5 He and Mary Bacon moved to Hartford, Windsor County, Vermont in 1764, where they were some of the first settlers, along with Strong brothers Solomon and Elijah.1 He was a farmer and a surveyor, and from 1765-1768 he was the Hartford town clerk. In 1774 he was the Constable and Commissioner of Highways. He served in October 1780 during the Revolutionary War in Capt. Joshua Hazen's Company of Col. Wood's Regiment "that marched to Brookfield in the Alarm."6,7 He married Elizabeth Wilson sometime after 1798 in Bethel, Vermont.1 He died in March 1815 in Bethel, Vermont, at age 81.7,8,9
