     Samuel Bassett was born in 1723 in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut.1 He married Susannah Morris on 17 May 1746 in Milford.1 He began military service in 1776 served in Capt. Nathan Hine's company.2 He appeared on the census of 1790 in Milford.3,4 He appeared on the census of 1800 in Milford.5 He died on 21 August 1806 in Milford. He was buried after 21 August 1806 in Grove Street Cemetery, New Haven.3
