     James Loxton was baptized on 25 December 1830 in Wells.1 He was the son of Gideon Loxton and Mary Sayer. He was listed as a resident in Gideon and Mary's household in the census report in 1841 at Cuthbert Street, Wells.2 He was a pudler, which is one who is involved in the purification of molten iron, in 1854 in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales.3 He married Elizabeth Jones, daughter of William Jones, on 25 December 1854 in the Register Office, Merthyr Tydfil.3 James and Elizabeth appeared on the census of 1861 at 80 Picton Street, Merthyr Tydfil. His occupation was listed as an iron puller.4 James and Elizabeth appeared on the census of 1871 at 46 Plymouth Street, Merthyr Tydfil.5 He was listed as a resident in the home of his daughter, the John and Emily (Loxton) Robert household in the census report in 1891 in 20 Oddfellows Street, Home Penrhys. His occupation is listed as gardener.6 He was a gardener before 1 November 1900 in Cambrian Terrace, Merthyr Vale, Glamorganshire, Wales.7 He died of cardiac bronchitis on 1 November 1900 in the Union Workhouse, Merthyr Tydfil, at age 69.7
